Acumatica is a cloud ERP whose manufacturing edition targets multi-modal discrete and process manufacturers1. For an Epicor shop, it is the most direct swap among the systems we reviewed: production planning and financials in one product, priced without user seats.
Best for: Mid-sized discrete and process manufacturers that want a like-for-like cloud ERP, with MRP, scheduling and a product configurator, priced without user seats.
Not the right fit for: Manufacturers that need on-premises deployment confirmed in writing at the outset, or measured manufacturing results before they shortlist.
What it offers a manufacturer leaving Epicor
The manufacturing edition covers bills of material and routings, engineering change control, MRP with time-phased recommendations, estimating, a rules-based product configurator and advanced planning and scheduling that combines finite and infinite capacity within one production order1. Shop-floor data comes in through a Shop Floor Kiosk and a mobile data-collection app. Its 2026 R2 release added a new scheduling engine, kiosk improvements and new replenishment methods.
An AI Assistant answers questions about schedule performance, material needs, production-order risk and build capability, and purchasing includes AI-assisted accounts payable1.
Pricing is based mainly on the applications implemented and on transaction volume, not on user count2. For a plant that wants every planner, buyer and supervisor in the system, that is a structural difference from per-user models.
Published evidence
The manufacturing page quotes three named customers, including CoachComm, which consolidated ERP, CRM and PLM into one product, but it reports no measured results1.
Strengths and limits
Strengths
- No per-user fees, so planners, buyers, supervisors and the shop floor can all work in the system.
- Publishes a starting price for its APEX for Manufacturing package, with support and implementation services included.
- Its 2026 R2 release added a new advanced planning and scheduling engine and kiosk improvements.
- An AI Assistant answers questions about schedule performance, material needs, production-order risk and whether an item can be built.
Limits
- The manufacturing page quotes named customers but reports no measured results.
- Deployment options are described only in general terms; a partner explains the cost differences and breakeven points between them.
- The final price depends on a scoped review with an Acumatica expert.
Choose another option if: You run a small job shop that mainly needs quoting and job costing (JobBOSS² or Global Shop Solutions), or regulated production that needs MES and quality in one platform (Plex).
Pricing
Partly published: APEX for Manufacturing starts under $2,185 a month, including support and implementation services. No per-user fees.
Questions to ask Acumatica
- Which applications would our Epicor scope map to, and what does that do to the price?
- Which deployment options are available to us, and how do their costs compare?
- Can a partner show our routings and configurations running in the APS engine?
- Which manufacturing customers of our size can we speak to?
The comparison table in the main guide sets Acumatica against the other seven options.
